All of our longarm quilting services are done in-house on our Handi Quilter longarm machines using the Pro Stitcher. The Pro Stitcher offers state-of-the-art stitch and design precision. We have a large selection of quilting patterns and designs, and we are always adding new designs to our collection. We also offer Basting Services for those of you who enjoy hand quilting and machine quilting your quilt on your own domestic machine. We care for your quilt as if it were our own, and we love to put the final touches on your already beautiful quilt.

Piecing backing or adding borders will be $10 per seam
Machine Binding
$0.20 per linear inch
We'll cut, prepare, and attach binding using a machine. Our binding is sewn to the back and top-stitched on the front. (does not include cost of fabric)
Rush Service
Rush Services will have a fee of no less than $25 (this will be handled on a case by case basis)
Binding your Quilt
Binding problems? We can bind your quilt for you OR you can watch one of our helpful YouTube videos to learn several options to bind your own quilts.
When Two Chicks Quilting completes your binding we attach it to your quilt with a machine. We piece together your binding and stitch the binding to the back side of the quilt then we top stitch the binding on the front. This technique gives the quilt a nice finish that holds up to lots of love and washing.
We DO NOT offer hand-stitched binding, however, if you choose to do the final step of hand stitching the binding yourself we can attach the binding to the quilt top just let us know that’s what you want and ask for pricing.
Quilting & Binding Cost Calculations
1. Calculate Total Square Inches
All measurements should be in inches
Width of Quilt X Length of Quilt = Total Square Inches
2. Calculate Quilting Cost
Total Square Inches X $0.03 = Cost of Quilting
Example:
65 X 80 = 5200 square inches
5200 X $0.03 = $156
1. Calculate the Quilt Perimeter
All measurements should be in inches
Add length of all four sides (Length + Length + Width + Width)
2. Calculate the Binding Cost
Total Perimeter X $0.20 = Cost of Labor for Attaching Binding
Note: This does not include the cost of fabric for your binding.
Example:
65+65+80+80 = 290" perimeter
290” X $0.20 = $50
Preparing Your Quilt
Quilt Top Preparation
Some things to think about to have the best outcome for the quilting of your quilt top:
Quilt tops should lay flat and be square to avoid puckering when quilted. Excess fabric in borders can result in puckering or us having to sew in tucks to take up the extra fabric. Be sure to check out our YouTube channel for helpful hints on how to attach borders to your quilt.
Edge seams should be secured, make sure those outside seams are not pulling out as you handle the quilt. If you have a heavily pieced quilt giving you issues sometimes it is a good idea to do a “stay-stitch” around the outside edges of the quilt top.
Remove all excess threads, especially if you have a lot of white background…those darker threads can be seen through a white background.
Pin your name and phone number to your quilt top and backing. Also, mark the top of your quilt top if it is not easily noticeable if you have a preference.
Press quilt top, seams should lay flat (press to one side). This is really important and can make a big difference in the final look of the quilt. Double check your seams to check for “holes” in your quilt top as well as any wavy borders.
Quilt Back Preparation
Quilt backing should be at least 8” longer and wider than your quilt top (4” bigger all the way around). This extra fabric is a MUST to be able to attach the quilt to the bars of the frame.
If you piece your backing make sure to trim the selvages off as they shrink unevenly when you wash the quilt and create a puckered line. Use a ½” seam allowance and press the seams well. Square up your quilt back. You can do this by folding it in quarters and using your rotary cutter and ruler to trim it even. Again, make sure your back is at least 8” longer and 8” wider than the quilt top.
If you choose a directional fabric for your backing fabric take that into account when piecing. Lastly, please mark the top of the backing fabric.
NOTE: Occasionally we all have seams coming loose, wavy borders or puckers. We would love to say we can “quilt it out” but sometimes we just can’t. We have some ways to work around these issues that might make them nearly invisible, but depending on the situation, it may still be noticeable.

Getting your quilt top to us
When you have your quilt top completed feel free to drop it off during regular business hours. If you are not local to our shop in Ganado, TX feel free to contact us to set up shipping your quilt top, just call us at (361)-771-3978 or send us a message to make arrangements.

Turnaround time
As your quilt waits its turn in line we protect and label your quilt in a handing bag. We do our best to keep our turnaround time for quilting under 4-6 weeks with the exception of the Christmas season at which time we do place deadlines for drop off, please keep this in mind when preparing your quilt top that you need for a specific deadline.
