Half Hexi Quilt Tutorial Part I
Check out the Half Hexi Free Sew Along! Julie walks you through this awesome hexi project that has tons of possibilities. MODA’s Tiddlywinks pattern is available to download from our “Files” tab in the Friends of Two Chicks Quilting Facebook group. All are welcome to join as this pattern is beginner-friendly!

Here’s the fabric you need to join in on the fun:
2.5″ Half-hexi template (note, there is a paper template in the pattern, but there’s a lot of cutting in this project and the acrylic template will make that part of the project easier for you!)
Jelly Roll (40 x2.5in strips)
Background/Border: 2.5 yards
Binding: 3/4 yard

Supplies selected by Friends of Two Chicks Quilting group member Leigh Ann.

How do I start?
After you decide on your fabrics, you’ll need to cut out the half hexis, setting triangles from the background fabric, and the borders. In the Half Hexi Quilt tutorial video, you’ll see how Julie cuts and then lays out her half hexis to work a section at a time. You can decide what works best for you! It’s a very scrappy project, so try not to overthink it. Aim to distribute the colors evenly and you can do that by pre-sorting the pieces after they are cut out so you don’t have a lot of one color next to each other.
Our next blog post, Half Hexi Quilt Part 2 will take you through the highlights of putting it all together!
