I learned to sew when I was 6 years old from my mom, who at the time owned a fabric store here in Ganado. I spent many days playing and learning lots of life skills in her fabric shop without even realizing it. I purchased my first sewing machine when I was only 8 years old with the money I earned raising a pig in 4-H and selling it at the county fair. I have been hooked ever since!
As life went on I became more and more involved with our local 4-H club with my children, and that is how I began quilting. While getting ready for our annual fundraiser, we really wanted a quilt for our raffle tickets and realized, being 4-Hers, we should make our own….so we did! That is when I began teaching kids to sew and continued with our 4-H quilting and sewing adventures for about 18 years. When my daughter was a senior in high school I realized I needed to do something for ME and came up with a PLAN! After a few years of working at that “plan,” Two Chicks Quilting finally came to be!
